CCA President's Column - Spring 2008

Certainly from a weather standpoint this has been a very challenging five months. As an operator and the President of the Connecticut Carwash Association (CCA), I have to tell you I’ve seen the affects of it first hand. So I’m going to avoid that topic all together and talk about nothing particularly important because all I really want to happen is for it to STOP RAINING so we can wash some freaking cars. Short of that there isn’t much else to say.

We at the CCA want our membership to know that we’re committed to helping them in any way that we can and appreciate their support even when things are tough (like right now!). It’s times like these when being a member of an association can ease your pain because when you speak to fellow operators you will see that they are in the same sinking ship that you feel you are in. They say that misery loves company, after all! But, there is also strength in numbers and when your industry is facing an issue we can control, the CCA will be there for you. That is why we have a legislative and water resources committee and why we pay a lobbyist to monitor legislation in Hartford. We have your best interests at heart and work hard to protect them.

So, with any luck we will be washing cars again soon, and please come out to our Annual Meeting/Mini Expo on June 11. By that time we should all be a lot happier and with any luck — paying our bills again!
