Picturesque Tunxis Plantation Country Club in Farmington, CT, was the setting for the 11th Annual Connecticut Carwash Association (CCA) Golf Classic on September 16. The annual event kicked off at 11am with a shotgun start. “This outing is really a great day and opportunity to catch up with other operators,” said CCA President Tony Setaro.
“The weather held out and everyone had a great time.”
In addition to 18 holes of golf, lunch on the course and a steak and steamer dinner, the association presented its annual CCA 2008 Legislator of the Year Award to Senator Paul R. Doyle, state
representative from the 28th District in Wethersfield, Cromwell, Middletown, Newington and Rocky Hill. He is the House Chair of the Banks Committee and a member of the Judiciary and Commerce Committees. “This annual award is the CCA’s way of supporting those legislators who support small business,” said Setaro. “It was an honor to present the award to Senator Doyle and to meet him.”
After dinner, event co-chairpeople Joe Tracy and Todd Whitehouse ran an extensive raffle that included a gas grill sponsored by C.A.R. Products, Inc., a DVD player, Home Depot/Sears/Cabela gift cards, and iPod Nano and Shuffle, various golf clubs, work tools and accessories and wine and spirits to list just some of the prizes.
The winning foursome consisted of Peter LaRoe and Dominick
D’Agostino of Personal Touch Car Wash and Dave Petit of Smoniz USA. The second place winners were the team from Stanley Street Car Wash: Tom, Jr., Tom, Sr. and Ken Keough and James Davey. Longest Drive winner was Tom Keough, Jr. on hole #5 and Closest to the Pin winner on hole #4 was Frank Murphy with 7’7”; hole #8 was Tom Keough with 5’8”; hole #14 was Konyong Kwak with 5’8” and hole #16 was Ravi Banerjee with 11”.
