CCA Call to Action

With the enormous state budget deficit it has become evident that all former sales tax exemptions are now under review. That includes the sales tax exemption on carwashes the association was successful in winning years ago.

Our board worked long and hard to win the repeal of these taxes. We employ a lobbyist in Hartford, PJ Cimini of Capitol Strategies Group, LLC, to monitor legislative activity and our interests. According to PJ, there is a very real possibility that the $1 million impact from our industry’s sales tax repeal will soon be reinstated. Over the next several weeks the association may call on you for your support and ask you to reach out to key legislators in your market. We will need to educate them about our industry and make it clear that reinstating the sales tax on tunnel and self-service carwash facilities will create a real hardship to our industry and members.

The CCA Board asks you now to be aware of this possibility and it asks you to dig deep and try to pay your 2009 membership dues (if you have not yet done so). We all know that times are very tough, but we do need your financial support to keep your best interests at the forefront.
